Circa: 1890
Height: 15
Manufacturer: Hertel Schwaab
This china doll belonged to my grandmother, Cecilia Amante-Williams. Her family came from Europe and never bought birthday or Christmas presents. Birthdays were just another day and you were a year older. I showed her this china doll and asked if she ever had one as a child as this doll would have been the era of her childhood. She said she never had a doll of her own. So I gave this china doll to her on that Thanksgiving Day 1998. One month later, she passed away on the day before Christmas 1998. She was 91 years old. She prayed with this doll, rocked her, covered her up with a blanket and often kissed her face. She named her Teresa of the Little Flower. Granddaughter Kathleen Reminga (Note the gold pin she wears is inscribed "Mother."
