Composition
The hard doll-making material used to make composition dolls includes various mixtures of materials, usually with a wood-pulp base. Early versions of composition consisted of ingredients such as cloth fibers, plaster, glue, whiting and zinc oxide. Early composition (c. 1895-1910) was generally cold poured. Later (c. 1910-1915) composition was thicker and was cold pressed into molds) Finally, (c, 1915-1950) a hot pressed technique was used, with a wood fiber type composition material was pressed into molds and heat-dried.
