| Sawdust Ladies was established
with a personal belief that we are all children at heart. We
find great joy in the preservation of dolls from the past.
We collect antique china and parian dolls that have
been loved throughout generations and have traveled throughout the world.
We respect the history stored in each one and add
our love to their legacies.
Our
name comes from the fact that these dolls often had their bodies stuffed with
sawdust although we have found many stuffed with lace, horsehair, human
hair, cork, scraps of muslin and old material, and corn cob
supports.
My personal collection of china and parian heads began
after many years of reproduction doll making. I am especially fond of the china head
dolls that are 25" tall and taller. A few of my dolls are 30
inches to 38 inches in height. Collection includes several rare cabinet
size ladies.
